Freedom Festival
A festival to celebrate our plurality, our rich cultural diversity in form of food, poetry, art and music from all over the country, sounds perfect for any day. And it was country’s Independence Day chosen for this occasion. This festival was about bringing together different voices and resists the attempt to homogenize our diversity through ‘saffronisation’.

A collective of organization came together for planning and conducting this much awaited and much appreciated event. The attack on the eating habits, the killings in the name of cow protection was answered back with fearless celebration of the same diversity. The eventful day carried out public hearing, listening to the testimonies of the victims of recent mob lynching by the so called cow protectors. Followed by powerful performances of songs, dance, poetry; analysis, discussion and food from across the land and culture.

Speakers such as well known activist Harsh Mander was also present at the event, who gave a beautiful analysis of what has been happening around as an attempt to sabotage our secular diversity by saffronising it.

The event was held at the St. Joseph’s College. Our students and some of the faculty members were also part of the event.
